The Philosophy: Respecting the Medium

In my nearly 20 years of experience across sales and strategy consulting, and from the US to Europe, I’ve seen a recurring pattern: brilliant strategies that fail not because of a lack of talent or data, but because they were designed for a vacuum.

 

Success in business is dependent on the "human layer", the complex, invisible connections between stakeholders that determine how decisions are made and how work actually gets done. Just as a carpenter must deeply understand and respect the properties of fine wood to create furniture that is both elegant and functional, a leader must account for the reality of human behavior to craft a path forward for his organization that is similarly effective.

 

Friction isn't a sign that your people are the problem; it’s a sign that the processes from strategy through to implementation are clashing with human realities. My work is about resolving that friction through empathy, pragmatism, and an orientation toward achieving results.

The Practitioner: Chris Lance

I founded Lance Advisory to bridge the gap between high-level strategic rigor and the behavioral reality of execution. My background is a deliberate synthesis of these two worlds:
 

  • The Strategic Foundation: I hold an INSEAD MBA and have spent nearly two decades at the intersection of strategy and execution. At Accenture Strategy, I directed the Amsterdam Innovation Center, architecting the frameworks that moved C-suite teams through complex decisions.

    As Sales Transformation Director at HPE, I led Executive Alignment across 8 European countries to help align and transform an enormous organization toward a more strategic GTM approachto drive multi-million euro outcomes.  And in my earlier sales career, having managed $15M P&L portfolios and teams of 60+, I don't just design strategy, I have the hands-on experience to understand the reality of the trade-offs required to make it work.
     

  • The Behavioral Depth: I am an ICF Professional Certified Coach (PCC) with over 550 hours of experience supporting leaders through the complexities of organizational change. While traditional consultants often stop at the strategy deck, my coaching background allows me to step into the room and facilitate the difficult conversations required for true alignment.

    With hundreds of hours of experience facilitating constructive dialog between senior teams as they bridge the gap between a written plan and collective action, ensure that the human dynamics of the organization are mobilized to support, not stall, your strategic goals.
